A glimpse of the excellence that shined through the summer months:
Jordyn Faucette, a senior philosophy, English, and political science major, was one of 19 students across the nation named UGA’s third Beinecke Scholar – UGA Today
Marine sciences faculty member Natalie Cohen received a multi-year grant from the Simons Foundation to support her phytoplankton research investigations off the Georgia coast
Ryan Smith, academic advisor for Geography and Art, was selected as a recipient of the NACADA Outstanding New Advisor Award
Three Franklin College scholars are among five UGA faculty selected to receive 2024 Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) foundation awards from the National Science Foundation
Dorothy Fragaszy, Professor Emerita and Director of the Primate Behavior Laboratory in the department of psychology, received the D.O. Hebb Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award from Division 6 of the American Psychological Association (APA). Division 6 is also known as the Society for Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology.
Fourth-year students in the department of geography and atmospheric sciences program Shania Green and Jada Lamar were selected to receive 2024 American Meteorological Society Senior Named Scholarships
The National Institutes of Health awarded $3.5M to UGA Foundation Distinguished Professor Jorge Escalante to continue his studies of the metabolic capabilities of prokaryotic cells
The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences announced the John C. Inscoe Professorship in History
Four Franklin College faculty members were included in the 2024-25 cohort of Fellows for Transformative Teaching by the Center for Teaching and Learning
Four alumni and one current Franklin College student were among the 34 UGA student-athletes who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics
