Let the Chapel bell ring, today is the day! The University of Georgia welcomes its newest alumni on May 12 as 6,008 undergraduates have met requirements to participate in the university’s spring Commencement ceremonies.
Congratulations to the 1,665 graduate students—a total of 7,673—who had their Commencement ceremonies yesterday. Welcome to the many family members and friends visiting campus this week.
The undergraduate ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Sanford Stadium on May 12. Leah Brown, an orthopedic surgeon, UGA alumna and All-American for the GymDogs, will give the address.
Brown received her bachelor’s degree in genetics from UGA in 1998, where she was a 14-time NCAA All-American and a two-time NCAA National Gymnastics Champion. She earned a medical degree at The Ohio State University and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation on a full U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship.
2022-23 has truly been an historic year. In September, U.S. News & World Report announced that UGA held at No. 16 in its ranking of the best public universities in the nation, marking the seventh consecutive year that UGA has placed in the top 20.
Congratulations and welcome, new alumni!
