The Georgia Climate Project announced its plenary speakers for the upcoming Georgia Climate Conference taking place May 15-17, 2023 in Athens, Georgia. The conference will address what a changing climate means for Georgia, and most importantly, what we can do about it. The event will bring together hundreds of attendees representing multiple sectors and areas of expertise to collaborate, raise awareness of work in Georgia, highlight progress, and identify opportunities to do more.
A range of leaders will be speaking from the main stage including:
- Kelly Girtz, Mayor of Athens Georgia
- Chandra Farley, Chief Sustainability Officer for City of Atlanta
- Dr. Caroline Golin, Global Head, Energy Market Development and Innovation for Google
- Mason Alstock, Rowan Foundation President
- Jacob Yarbrough, Sustainability Lead, Creature Comforts Brewing Co.
- Daniel Blackman, Administrator of EPA’s Southeast Region

The conference consists of three full days of climate-related activities. The program will cover a wide array of climate-related impacts and solutions in Georgia sectors such as urban planning, agriculture, forestry, coastal communities, ecosystem and human health, policy, education, and more.
"Communities across Georgia of all sizes face mounting challenges due to climate-related impacts," said Patricia Yager, University of Georgia professor of marine sciences and director of the Georgia Climate Project. "Alongside our partners in the business community, government and the education sector, our state enjoys significant resources to support planning for and protection of Georgia's natural beauty and economic vitality.
