In honor of the collision between the calendar and the mathematical constant Ο, we recognize the Math Peer Mentor Program (ππ)2, a peer mentorship program within the Math department that seeks to provide a platform that inspires Math students to cultivate camaraderie, growth and connection to enhance their personal and professional development:
The vision of the program is to foster a peer learning space where Math students from diverse backgrounds can engage and develop meaningful relationships within the department.
- Mentors will be able to reflect on their own student experiences, and hopefully, transmit information that provides valuable support to their mentees
- Mentees will be able to solidify their sense of belonging within the Math department through significant conversations and student involvement
- The program hopes to produce positive social and academic outcomes for our Math students
- The program also aims to encourage Math students to continue their involvement with the Math department as well as the UGA community after graduation
And like Archimedes' constant, aka 3.1415926535897932384626433..., the UGA Mentor Program has a vision for excellence and service to the campus community that never ends.
