Author Megha Majumdar will give her talk, "Writing Socially Engaged Fiction," as the Department of Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies's annual Betty Jean Craige Lecture, co-sponsored by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts in partnership with the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program.
The event is also presented as part of the Willson Center’s 2021 Global Georgia Initiative public events series.
Megha Majumdar was born and raised in Kolkata, India. She moved to the United States to attend college at Harvard University, followed by graduate school in social anthropology at Johns Hopkins University. She works as an editor at Catapult, and lives in New York City. Her first book, A Burning, was selected as a New York Times Notable Book of 2020 and longlisted for a National Book Award in fiction.
