
David Starkweather, UGA professor of cello, will perform a recital on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Ramsey Hall at the UGA Performing Arts Center.
The program will include a solo piece by Bach, Suite No. 5 in C Minor from the six suites Bach wrote for solo cello.Starkweather received the UGA Creative Research Medal for his research and DVD recording of Bach's six suites.
For the second portion of the program, Starkweather will be joined by UGA professor of guitar Daniel Bolshoy. They will perform an arrangement of the Heitor Villa-Lobos Bachianas No. 5 Aria. Starkweather and Bolshoy will also perform the Radamés Gnattali Sonata for Guitar and Cello.
The recital will end with the César Franck Sonata for Cello and Piano, played by Starkweather and UGA faculty accompanist Damon Denton.
