A professor of language and literacy at UGA and published poet, Cahnmann-Taylor and students will showcase their poetry as part of the Big Read events series. Part of the Seat in the Shade Poetry Series.
Cahnmann-Taylor is the winner of Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg and Leeway Poetry Prizes and has co-authored two books, "Teachers Act Up: Creating Multicultural Learning Communities Through Theatre" (Teachers College Press, 2010) and "Arts-Based Research in Education" (Routledge, 2008). She is the author of numerous articles and poetry publications. She was a 2013-14 Fulbright Scholar in Oaxaca, Mexico studying American adults’ acquisition of Spanish language and Mexican cultural practices. Cahnmann-Taylor's most recent poetry book, "Imperfect Tense," (Whitepoint Press, 2016) is about English-speaking Americans moving south and becoming Spanish-English bilinguals.
Cahnmann-Taylor specializes in bilingual and world language education, poetry and arts-based research.
