More than 300 students from around the state descended on the Lamar Dodd School of Art this weekend for UGAHacks4, a computer programming event where teams worked on an array of projects:
The student-organized 36-hour hackathon was an opportunity for students ranging from novice coder to experienced programmer to work together on “challenges” and earn prizes. They hacked together projects that tackled everything from tech to promote physical fitness and raise mental health awareness to helping farmers track and perform analytics on their cows.
More information about the event can be found at UGAHacks website, its Facebook page, and in this Red & Black article.
Student-initiated projects provide the secret sauce for campus innovation, and are happening all around UGA. This is a great one, creating an opportunity that students around Georgia are responding to and experiencing UGA in a unique way. Great work UGA Hacks and all their sponsoring organizations including the department of computer science.
